At Spinnerei Leipzig we enjoyed the second day of the Born Global Startup Festival 2023 with inspiring expert panels on topics such as IP management in Asia, supplier search and supply chain management in Vietnam, as well as direct investment and market entry strategies in China.

With the Startup Pitch Finals for the ISC Startup Class Vietnam and Hong Kong in September 2023 we finished up our satellite event on the 28th of June. The pitches by Heartucate GmbH, Printell, SURAG Medical GmbH, NanoTubeTEC, Realists Training Technologies GmbH, FlyNex GmbH, RiDERgy GmbH, mia GmbH and World Academies inspired all participants!
After the satellite event on Wednesday the ISC joined the MACHN23 Festival with a booth and a keynote on Thursday. The ISC stand in the startup village shared by the startups openUC2, Printell and Avos inspired with amazing innovations and an easy-going atmosphere!
The ISC keynote in the Speakers Corner “Startups go international: Asiatische Märkte erkunden” answered the questions: Why is the Asian market interesting for young startups? What is special about the Asian market? How did the startups prepared themselves for the Asian markets? What were the key learnings? The ISC Alumni René Lachmann, Manh Tu Vu and Henning Grambow shared their experiences and discussed the challenges and opportunities of these markets. Additionally, we talked about market exploration trips and how young companies can successfully immerse themselves in the international business environment.

Toan Nguyen is the Sourcing & Project Manager of EWERK Group and talked about Sourcing in Vietnam & Supplier Development.
Dr. Karl Rackette LL.M. talked about importance of IP protection in Southeast Asia with focus on Vietnamese market.
After graduating from high school in the USA, he studied at RWTH Aachen, INSA in Lyon, and the University of Strasbourg. Following further training in a patent law firm in Esslingen, as well as the German Patent Office and patent courts in Munich, he was admitted as a patent attorney and trademark attorney. He represents domestic and foreign clients before the German Patent and Trademark Office, the European Patent Office, the Office of the European Union for Intellectual Property, the World Intellectual Property Organization, and in nullity suits before the Federal Court of Justice. He also participates in infringement proceedings before district courts and higher regional courts. As a result of his professional activities involving numerous trips abroad, he maintains contacts with foreign colleagues, particularly in Southeast Asia.
